The Happy Look

I was so surprised to hear her say such a thing, for I had suddenly became aware of the wrinkles at the corners of my eyes. To me, they heralded advancing age.

I thanked my daughter and then went to a mirror. I smiled real big. Sure enough, the lines that I had thought of as ugly wrinkles could indeed be called "smile lines."

Suddenly I felt like really smiling and turned to my daughter and hugged her for helping me appreciate something I had not liked before.

And it had taken all those years to develop the look of happiness.

I felt thankful for the years God had given me, too.
